Eilat - Princess Hotel

Posted by Ekaterina

We spent there 5 nights with our 5 years old daughter. Overall we were OK to stay there but overall we have 2 negative comments: 1) The hotel might be excellent when it was NEW. To the time it was built (probably 1990 or earlier) it had excellent facilities (like very big swimming pool with chutes; spa etc.) of the very new standard. Now it is simply outdated, everything has the worn and outdated look, including furniture and overall design and room equipment. You will notice it by the old huge TV (not because of the screen size, no! because of grandma model...), but the broken furniture parts, by the conditioning system which can be set up only for "maximum" (will blow you down from the bed) or "minimum" (no action at all). So - the room in every brand new or simple new 3-4* hotel will be better than in this 5*. For this reason - bad value for money, as we paid 356 dollar for BB per day. Just do not try to compare this hotel with an average new 4-5* Turkey hotel with all the facilities. 2). Service. Overall in Israel I had the impression that service is not their great point. But in this hotel it was extreme. Everybody wanted tips but nobody wanted to provide service. If you ask for something - be ready for the long waiting. The one and only exception - the daytime room service which was very prompt. We liked very much and what makes us nit to regret our staying in this hotel: 1) great location on the coral beach, quite, far away from the center of the city and all of usual "rambazamba" of Eilat 2) good (but old!) facilities like the big swimming pool. However all other facilities are poor: very little play room for children with almost no activities, game room is equipped with the game boys from 1980-x (literally - one machine was dated 1984))). So -from me - bad value from money. But I do not know alternatives in Eilat for the same money. May be some apartments. My overall impression of hotels in Israel - overpriced. During our 3 weeks journey in Israel we tried 4 places to live (2 hotels, one rent apartment and one apartment hotel), and my overall suggestion is to rent a flat or try the new apartment hotel in Israel. This will save your money and nerves.
